Neuhaus Palace
The
Neuhaus Palace is the spa area's landmark: an elegant building
of late baroque style. Egid Felix, Baron of Barrié,
had it constructed in the years 1767 to 1773. The German-Italian
Heinrich Todesko was the architect. Also the construction
of the chapel that is built right next to the palace was carried
out by Todesko. It had taken him three years when he finished
it in 1776.
The small chapel contains a lodge exclusively for the barons
and was connected with the palace through a corridor. An eye-catching
element of this chapel is the stucco ceiling, typical for
baroque style. The palace itself contains plenty of sculptures
and paintings in its interior.
You can find there plenty of stucco that reflects
the taste of the rococo period. The most ostentatious room
in the palace is the hall of mirrors, which has seen personalities
as historically important as the Bavarian King Ludwig I or
the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm IV.
